Advanced – Breadcrumbs Tab

We are going into the advanced settings of SEO. We are staring off with the breadcrumbs Tab. Now breadcrumbs are something that needs go in your theme so your them doesn’t support them. You need to figure out how to implement them in your them if you are not developer you might want to get someone else to do this for you or to reach out to your theme developer and ask if they want to add sport for the SEO breadcrumbs.

0:36 many big themes out there already use our breadcrumbs so that’s not a weird question to ask, and as soon as the theme as support for breadcrumbs you won’t even see the enable breadcrumbs button anymore because if the declare a support correctly this button will go away and breadcrumbs will just work, If they don’t and you’ve implemented them in any other way you can click enable here to get them, and at that point you can change quite few settings here. Now the problem of doing this that you don’t know what you’re changing.

We but you don’t know really that will look like which is why we’ve also added this to the customizer, if breadcrumbs are unable on your site you have a Yoast SEO breadcrumbs settings in your customizer where you can just determine what breadcrumbs should look like and where they should go. As you can see I’ve enable them here but there are no breadcrumbs to do that. I need to make sure that my theme actually supports breadcrumbs.

1:48 Doing that as easy as copying and pasting a little bit of code, the only problem is knowing where that code needs to go. Now this is not something that you should do on a live site because they way I’m doing it right now if i make any foot mistake this breaks. I’m used to doing that I’ve broken plenty of sites in my life so I don’t really care anymore but it’s not something you should do. As you can see now I’ve added bit of code and I’ve added that bit to page.PhP which is and main templates for pages on my site.

2:30 Now as you can see it ended up here, not already nice spot but you can lay with moving it the bit of code up and down, but at least now you can see what this does, we are on a page so there is no blog page so changing this setting doesn’t really affect anything here but I can say you are here are there that’s kind of Meta isn’t?

2:55 You can also change other things like the prefix search result pages and the bread crumbs for 404 page for that you need to have this implemented on all your pages. There is one settings here that you might want to have there, and that’s the setting to bold that last page in the breadcrumbs. For that you actually have to go in SEO advance we’ll have to move that later on at some point so bold the last page in the breadcrumbs safe settings and if I go to the site now.

4:25 So if I press customize I can now say okay but I actually have a blog page as well, so I want to see the blog page this will add the blog front page to your breadcrumbs.
