7 Truths For Creating Perfect Subject Lines
Video Transcription
Seven truths for creating almost perfect subject lines.
Number one people won’t act unless told to do so. Your subject line is one of the first things your email reader sees. Make sure it’s the first call to action.
Number two people don’t like to have their time wasted. When it comes to your subject line you have only a few seconds to capture their attention. So make your words count.
Number three people respond to numbers. Percentages, lists, and monetary values get a great response. Numbers can take a complex problem like getting better results on Facebook and presented in a way people will respond to.
Number four people care more about the sender than the message. Tell people who the email is from in the subject line. More people open emails because of the organization it’s from than because of what’s in the subject line.
Number five people want you to share your expertise. Don’t just tell your customers what you’ve read, or what you’ve heard. Tell them what you know. Use a subject line like, “Our top tips for almost perfect subject lines.”
Number six people have needs, questions, and concerns. Think about your audiences needs, or type a question that might be on their mind when they’re going through their inbox. If month after month you’re answering those questions your content will always be relevant.
Number seven people actually do like being teased. There’s a reason why people hate commercials but love movie trailers. Commercials are all about promotion but trailers are all about getting people’s attention and leaving them wanting more. Do the same thing with your subject lines.
So those are all the tips I have for you today. If you’re looking for more email marketing advice visit Constant Contact.
